The restaurant “Podere Le Caselle” has been recently enlarged with a nice and large hall, on its top there are wood trusses, while all the room has been decorated with the works of art by the owner, the artist Giulio Galgani. Therefore today it is, without any doubt, one of the best restaurants of this area.It has been existing since 1970, when it was opened by Gilberto, Giulio’s father. It is situated in one of the most typical areas, the Chiana Valley. In its cooking the Chianina race meat triumphs and therefore it is more and more well-known and appreciated.
The restaurant’s speciality is the fresh hand made pappardelle (wide ribbon noodles) in wild boar sauce (an animal that you can easily find in this areas). Still among the first courses, if you love traditions, you have to try “pici all’aglione” (hand made spaghetti without egg, made with water and flour, fresh tomato, garlic and leek) or the always traditional “ribollita”.Our most loyal customers already know that our restaurant is the reign of the Chianina steak. If you wish to try the Fiorentina steak, which is higher than the Chianina, you will experience an unforgettable dish (even if a bit more expensive).In our restaurant people is always happy to eat and try our dishes (for example our Sausages with beans) and if you love sweets you won’t lose our cakes.Marina, Giulio’s wife, has a special attitude with pastry making.Don’t lose her “panna cotta” or her “grandmother’s cake”: the friability of the short pastry or the wonderful smoothness of the cream combine themselves in an unique taste harmony.
